Over the Crux is a sports-drama/ romance about a young co-ed who must battle through the psychological effects of a devastating fall in order to realize her dream of competing professionally in the sport of bouldering against the best rock climbers in the world.
Tara Mitchell was a strong climber, an up-and-coming phenom who was in control of her life. Climbing risky bouldering problems with only a 4-inch crash pad for safety, Tara challenged herself to be the best. Then she fell and almost lost her life. Although her physical trauma healed, she lost her edge and confidence, no longer gliding smoothly up the hardest routes.
Now a year later, she realizes that she must confront the inner demons that torment her and challenge herself once again on the rocks, or she will never be able to commit herself fully to anything or anybody.
Her manipulative and unsupportive fiancé Aiden doesn’t understand her motivation and her estranged mother is outraged at the way she chooses to live. Even her quirky, smart-aleck girlfriends don’t fully support or understand her ambitious goal to challenge the professional rock climbers.
Looking to find her edge, Tara enlists the help of Joel, a vagabond climber/photographer who agrees to mentor her despite their clashing personalities. A dynamic love-hate relationship develops as he trains her for the competition.
Tara enters the Southwest Bouldering Competition, despite the objections of her family and fiancé, and learns that in life, true love and success only comes through commitment.
